Authors Guide
Scope: Journal of Science Research (JSR) is a refereed journal intended primarily as a medium for reporting original researches of theoretical and experimental origin in Science; although reviews of topical issues will also be accepted. It is essential that authors write and prepare their manuscripts according to the instructions and specifications listed below. The length and effectiveness of the peer review process will largely depend on strict adherence to the prescribed format by authors in preparing their manuscripts. Therefore, contributors are strongly encouraged to read these instructions carefully before preparing a manuscript for submission and to check the manuscript for conformance before submitting it for publication. Manuscripts should be in clear and concise English (correct language is the responsibility of the authors).
Submission of manuscript: Contributions are accepted on the understanding that the authors have obtained the necessary authority for publications. Submission of a manuscript to Journal of Science Research implies that it has not been submitted for consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts should be written in English Language; typed double spaced with wide margins on A4 sized paper and submitted via the journal’s website www.jsribadan.ng or the journal’s email (jsr.ibadan@gmail.com). However, authors may also wish to submit three (3) hard copies with a CD containing the electronic copies to the “Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Science Research, Faculty of Science, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria”. The SI units of measurement should be used. Scientific names must be italicized and authority given at first mention. Number all pages in sequence beginning with the title page.
Title page: The manuscript title page should bear the title of the article, name(s) of authors and their affiliations. The title should be short, informative and comprehensible for a broad scientific audience as possible. Authors should use initials for their first and middle names and write full last name. One e-mail address for correspondences with the Editor is mandatory.
Abstract: An abstract not exceeding 250 words must accompany every article. It should be a brief summary of the significant items of the article. It should be informative and not only present the general scope of the article but also indicate the main results and conclusions. The abstract should not contain literature citations or allusions to the tables or illustrations. All non-standard symbols and abbreviations should be defined at first use. Authors should remember that online systems rely heavily on the content of titles and abstracts to identify articles in electronic bibliographic databases and search engines. They are therefore requested to take great care in preparing these elements.
Key words: Four (4) to six (6) key words, separated by semicolons, for use in indexing should be listed immediately below the abstract.
Article text: The paper should be divided into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion (Results and Discussions can also be merged together). These are followed by Acknowledgements if necessary and References. Acknowledgements may include citation of funding sources, including the agency and grant number; and names of non-authors who contributed to the research.
References: Articles cited in the text are referred to by number(s) in the square brackets [ ], and should be in the order of their appearance in the list of references. When there are consecutive citations, references should be listed alphabetically and numbered at the end of the article with the name of journal abbreviated according to accepted international standards and italicized. Unpublished papers, unless accepted for publication, should not be cited. Works accepted for publication should be referred to as “in press” and appropriate DOI number provided.
